This restaurant has definatley gone downhill. I wrote a review last year on this page saying how delicious the food was, but when a friend and I went recently, we received the worst service and food ever. We were sitting on the patio for half an hour before a waiter even came to bring us drinks and a menu! Our food was extremely dissapointing. We ordered the french onion soup and it was literally soup in a bowl, with crackers and cheese on the side.. and it was served with a soup laddle.. not a spoon! When we asked the waiter he said the chef put it in by accident! The rest of our food was tasteless and dissapointing, and our other friend's pop was flat.

We asked for a discount when we explained the awfull food and service. All we recieved was 15% off.

I would'nt reccomend this at all. I do agree that Pepperwood next door is great!

Terrible Service and Awful Food. Don't Waste Your Money.

When my friend and I first went to Fava.. we were a little confused. The menus were simply written out and photo copied and there was only one waiter working. Our doubts about the restaurant quickly vanished when we tasted the delicious food! Eating at Fava is a fun way to eat out if you're not in the mood for a huge meal and want to try a couple of things on the menu. It's also great becaues the prices are fairly low. The tappas range from about $7-8 dollars! Very reccomended!

We unfortunately had a very bad experience with fava in the middle. We were pretty much ignored for most of the evening and it took us just over 2 hours to see food on our table. We complained to an ignorant manager who basically told us to go fly a kite and eat elsewhere if we can see that they are busy. They didn't even offer a free appetizer or desert. Extremely bad customer service and we would nerver recommend going there.

The very best food out there!! I highly recommend the Roasted Turkey with cranberry mayo on stone bread off the lunch menu. And I don't know why you would reccomend Perpperwood- the food is tasteless there.
But really I give Fava an 11/10!!

We think the restaurant is great but the hours of operation should be posted on the web page! Nothing worse than getting your taste set on something than finding out they are closed!

I live downtown Burlington, and this has become my favourite restaurant. I highly recommend the beef on a stone, the spicey chicken and the scallops are amazing. South Carolina is the house white, I HIGHLY recommend Fava, 4 items & litre of wine for 2 people will run you under $60.

After hearing many good personal reccomendations from friends and colleagues I and my soul mate decided to sample the innovative tapas menu.

The food was excellent, accompanied by attentive service. Definitely the place to lounge and eat leisurely on a warm evening across from Lake Ontario.

Note Best read with a Robin Leach inflection...

Though with best intentions, this restaurant is hit or miss. Though the idea of tapas is laudable, many of the dishes are not realized well - as an example, the lamb chops are grilled quite nicely, but the accompanying nage was unseasoned and limp, or the salmon is trendily served on a searing stone that sends hot fat splattering onto diners. On two visits we had horrible service, once left on a cold patio without refills for hot beverages and once ignored completely. Go to Pepperwood (next door) instead.

Breakfast & lunch were both great, and the tapas nightly menu is a great alternative to a heavy dinner.....especially in the hot summer months.
I have to agree with the other review that the young gentleman Glen was a great waiter and has some degree of fashion sense, but his spelling is abysmal.

fava is a great place to dine out in Burlington. Its got a great menu for all meals, their breakfast menu has everything a customer could ask for, the lucnhes are more filling then the breakfast (which I didnt think was possible) and their Tapa's slection at night are beautiful created by their inspirational chefs. Not to mention the service which is impecable. I had a good looking young man named Glen, who did a phenomanal job and had a great fashion sense. Very important in all my waiters. 10/10 in my opinion.
