visited friends in Toronto a week ago and they took me to shop here. It was fantastic. I felt as though I was back home. You guys carry everything and more. Your prices are fantastic. I totally enjoyed the experience. I live in Edmonton and we need a store like yours over here. Why not explore the possibility. satisfied customer

2011-03-20 21:49:00

I wish I could make myselft understood.. Which row can we find fresh sichuan peppercorns ...anybody?

2011-02-09 22:39:33

Who cares about the customer service, its an ignorant world anyways. I LOVE THE PRICES

2011-01-23 15:28:33

maybe all of you idiots should learn to speak chinese instead of complaining

2011-01-15 05:08:22

i love their (cheap) sushi trays!

and yeah, the cashiers look way over-worked and have little or no knowledge of english lang.. but oh well.. doesn't rly bother me that much (being east european) .. guess I'm just too used to being in these kinda markets (eg. chinatown toronto) LOLz

2011-01-15 05:08:20

They should move back to China. Nobody speaks english or wants to speak in english, rude staff.

2011-01-06 21:29:21

fair on prices BAD for customer service

2011-01-01 18:19:21

the west drive oceans is awesome! great selection of fresh produce, great prices, great take-out! AND it was open on christmas day! can't beat that! i found the employees to be pleasant and friendly. the fact that they didn't speak much english really didn't affect my experience at all. the lady behind the take-out counter was even kind enough to point out that the dishes we'd selected were spicy, as our daughters were with us. maybe they wouldn't have been able to help us find the pop tarts, but we didn't ask.... we just roamed around until we found them. a nice way to check out the more exotic products they carry. excellent supermarket!

2010-12-27 16:38:42

Wow those people who work there.... In my opinion, I think it's a conspiracy and that all the people that work there can actually understand English but pretend they don't so that they don't need to help customers.

Why is every single person there Asian??? I have never in my life come across such rude people, it seems that their training class comprises of how to attain the various levels of rudeness to customers.

I HATE shopping at Oceans and would rather pay the extra couple bucks and go to a store like Metro or Fortinos for the good customer service. Oceans really sucks!!

2010-12-27 10:36:30

Grow up, there are millions of stores to shop at so why go to Oceans,. I go for the prices eg lobster and you can't beat the price. I walk in ,pay, and leave , I win.

2010-12-27 10:36:30

Being rude to others is their trademark

2010-12-24 15:56:18

The men who are working to stock up the goods are very rude. they need to be taught some descipline and how to work with customers. I personnally has experienced it. I was asking for something and the guy was mocking me as though I was the one that did not know English. I then asked him for an empty box that he was about to throw out and instead of giving it to me he threw it on the ground, laughted and walked away. Where did they get this ill mannered people from?

2010-12-23 23:53:14

The prices are good but the customer service is worst than poor!!! Rude and no manners at all!!! Language is not really barrier. A smile can go a long way.

2010-12-21 22:05:24

they have good food low price

2010-12-19 19:17:44

Went to Oceans on Hurontario a few days ago with a friend. I loved the selections in produce dragonfruit, passion fruit etc. I saw a lady ask a question to one of the produce workers, he smiled politely and tried to imply that he didn't speak English. Surprisingly it was the customer that responded rudely towards the employee. Personally, I don't mind if the employees speak little English as long as they respond with manners since I'm perfectly capable of looking for items MYSELF! The cashier on the other hand was distant and tossed my friend's snack aside after she scanned it. I saw a comment down below describing their ethnic past and another stating go to a high end grocery store for customer service. Uh hi, No Frills isn't high end and they have the capability of looking you in the eye, smile and greet you. AND dispite the struggles people go through does NOT give them the excuse to treat people who are paying for food that trickles down to THEIR salary like trash! Canadians aren't the sole reasom for their below minimum wage pay (If they report that to the ministry Oceans will be written up for it because there's a reason why it's called MINIMUM people!!!), long hours and difficult lives!

2010-12-08 15:52:20

very big super market everything is very easy to find and organized.
prices are very good amazing super store 1 stop shop .

2010-12-07 17:03:29

I have been shopping at Oceans in Shopper's World since the store opened. And ya, the customer service sucks, no one admits they speak English.. the grading on the meat is questionable, hygiene is an issue...but whatever... u get what u pay for..right?
Until yesterday my son and a friend went into the store and purchased 3 drinks. The undercover security guard assumed he stole them, next thing you know he's being faceplanted into a wall, and handcuffed.
And do you realize when I went to the store to speak to the manager, he did not come to speak to me. Instead he sent an assistant manager who didn't speak English. No apology...NOTHING!!!!
I WILL NEVER SHOW IN THAT STORE AGAIN!!! I mean really this is Canada!!!Maybe that's the problem, I'm pretty sure Americans would have sued Oceans into bankruptcy by now!!!

2010-11-26 10:13:25

You get at cheap rate and fresh food ,thanks for that

2010-11-20 22:34:51

amazing prices on produce

2010-11-18 21:20:03

2010-11-05 19:02:37

horrible smell, rude employees,

2010-10-31 09:34:09

very good

2010-10-30 08:47:34

I have visited west dr in Brampton
1) pushes groceries after scale like throwing
2) No manner
3) No English or any other langauge (except Chinese)
4) If U ask no one is there to understand (show picture of item, you might be lucky)

2010-10-21 22:28:06

It's a good store, but sometimes the cashiers make big mistakes on your bill! Also, they mostly won't speak English to you.

2010-10-19 20:34:41

Fresh fruits and vegetables, the prices are great. On more than three occasions I have witness customers being very verbally abusive to the cashiers. They never talk back and when they don't people said they are rude. I don't understand.

2010-10-18 18:23:55

I've shopped here for almost half year and quality and food are average until the new supermarket opened at Kennedy Square, Seaons Food mart, the first time i went shop at that store was very clean, fresh, and customer service was much better. Although some of the employees English aren't as good as the others, they still helped me out as much as possible. So I will continue to shop there for all my family needs! And one more great thing is they open on holidays, how convenient!

2010-10-15 22:31:36

oceans is amazing but i was jus wondering if the sold kojic acid products and pearl powder

2010-10-11 14:01:06

no one speaks english and very poor service.the sales people think they are somebody and proud and dont care you buy or not .we think we are in china and they treat us like we are foreigners walking in their store.only vegetables are best and everything but meat we never buy from chinese stores.

2010-10-07 10:04:31

your deals are wonderful and afordable i will alway shop there thank for your good service

2010-10-06 19:04:10

The one in Brampton is great! the food is good, the price is right and the people are friendly there. The one in Mississauga on Hurontario when everytime I go there they always give me dirty looks and follow me around they treat me like a criminal. If they keep on treating there customers that way they won't be in business for very long. They have security cameras they should learn how to use it instead of going around and harassing the shit out of there customers and treating them like potential shoplifters.

2010-10-03 08:23:10

While I agree that the staff at Ocean's maybe tired and stressed, thats no excuse to be so damn rude and unfriendly, when you choose to work in a public enviroment you have to be pleasant with your customers, their business help put food in your mouth and that of your children if you have any,They are in Canada now not in their country and with working with the public they should learn more customer service skills and a little english. Hey they could at least smile it does not cost them anything.Sometimes I wonder how our Govt.allow them into the country if we as tax payers dont pay closer attention, this country of our will become like a third world country if its not already so.

2010-09-30 09:35:53

Value for money.great place for ur daily groceries

2010-09-27 13:55:40

The products are good but I try not to spend my money where I am not appreciated as a customer. They need to teach ALL their employees how to treat, talk and react to customers in a positive manner. If it wasn't for us they would not have a job so they need to appreciate us. I visited on Saturday because they had something that I needed and I stood face to face with one of the employees who looked at me like - actually looked through me - as I asked her a question and walked away. I asked another lady if the prerequisite for working at Oceans is RUDENESS!!!
Product - good
Customer Service - POOR

2010-09-22 23:06:47

I have been going to Oceans for 1 year and I find it is a great store. The food is very fresh and there is a great amount of variety, even the fruits and vegetables. Some people who rate Oceans 'low' maybe is due to a lack of communication with the staff. I am there weekend afternoons, and even the flowers are very fresh and seem to last for several days.

2010-09-10 09:09:52

They are selling different kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables. The price is reasonable and I like the take-out food. Especially the Combo, the taste is very good.

2010-09-09 20:51:43

nobody beat the price

2010-09-09 13:59:45

SOMETIMES SOMEONE JUST NEED A SMILE TO BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY. IT DOES NOT COST A THING TO GIVE A LITTLE SMILE. THE RESPOND WOULD BE GREAT, BELIEVE ME, WE ARE NOT IN THAT PERSON'S SHOES WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HELL THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH. BE SLOW TO JUDGE AND THINK OF WHAT CAN I SAY TO TO BOOST JUST A LITTLE SMILE. I TRY IT AND IT WORKS, DON'T BE SELFFISH JUST SMILE A WHILE PEOPLE AND GIVE YOUR FACE A REST. BEFORE YOU THROWN AN INSULT....THINK TWICE

2010-09-07 13:50:33

rude cashiers poor customer service...poor business ethic and low value sale gimmicks.

2010-09-01 12:19:11

They carry a wide variety of goods and reasonably priced for most of the cultures here in Brampton. The problem is the customer service, it is terrible. I think that the owners need to hire more staff to reflect the customers that they serve.

2010-08-28 13:52:05

I just want to shed some light on the workers there and give them a voice because there are too many negative and harsh comments here from ignorant people.

Many empolyees at Oceans work from 930 to 900 everday, 6 days a week. In addition, most live in Scarborough or Toronto and they have to travel to Brampton to work. Most of them are paid less than minimum wage. With the exception of lunch (which is around 30 minutes) they have to stand on their feet for work (cashiers especially). If you were working under such conditions, can you imagine how exhausting and tiring you would be at the end of everyday. Would you have time to do anything else, never mind learning English, and attending to your kids if you have any. Under such stress, how can you expect them to give you excellent customer service? Don't you think you're asking too much of them? They are in a completely different league from workers at Superstore or Lawblaw. Hence, their customer service. I wish people could be more understanding of each other. The workers there are human beings too.

Now you may thing this is inhuman. But in comparison to the conditions they (workers) left China for, this is better. This is the solution to their endless cycle of suffering in poverty for future generations. This gives hope to their offsprings, who would get a chance at education and a better life. This could easily turn into a long discussion but I'd rather not.

That being said, when compared to other Chinese supermarkets, Oceans is rather clean and aesthetically appealing. For the price asked, Oceans provide a good deal. So the bottom line is, like many have said before in one form or another if you want better service, go to Lawblaw or Superstore if you want better price, go to Oceans. Stop wasting time complaining about poor customer service and spend it on something productive. Just my two cents.

2010-08-17 17:06:46

Think twice before you go to Yuan Ming Supermarket at Hurontario.
A couple days ago I went for groceries to Yuan Ming Supermarket in Hurontario.
One of the cashier, search/ open my shopping bag and my purse in front of other customers.
They make a wrong accusation, and they didn't apologize to me.
I asked to see the manager, the manager said, they suspect someone else, but she didn't apologize to me.
It's also hard to communicate with them , because most of them can't speak English and they are really rude.
I have been wondering why the goverment allowed that kind of supermarket to operate, the staff are rude, can't speak English, they make their own law, like they still live in their previous country.
The sanitation of the store also questionable, I am really hurt of their action to me, they didn't even apologize.

2010-08-15 00:00:11

some cashier don't understand english, when i ask for store manager they talk in there own language its so rude. talk so rude.

2010-08-11 22:13:01

I think Yuan Ming Supermarket worst than ocean Fresh Market.

2010-08-11 15:59:05

super good nice stuff nupak, grace rice great sale

2010-08-02 09:54:08

Judging by all the comments (mostly negative dating back to 2007), can someone please expain why this is still going on. Does management not listen to its customers? You'd have thought that some improvement would have been made.

2010-07-31 23:36:45

I have been to your store many times and found it very frustrating to communitace with your staff as they do not speak English. I could understand one or two staff members, however, I find that most cannot speak English. Given that we are in Canada and you are customer based, being able to communicate and assist customers should be a priority.

2010-07-30 08:30:34

rude employee.dirty sounding

2010-07-27 16:45:23

Smell of fish and other meat products has penetrated almost all produce. plastic wrapping of vegetables to protect from bad odour of meat give the impression that those are stale and probably they are.

2010-07-23 16:59:29

I moved out of the area just as Oceans moved in and I was really sorry I was leaving. I love shopping different cuisines, and I love Asian food. I find the store clean and interesting. Yes, the staff don't make any effort to communicate or respond and for me that is frustrating. I would buy lots more there on my visits if I knew what I was getting. I like to experiment in cooking -). Maybe having English labels on the shelves would help and we wouldn't need to bother the employees with questions.
Oh! and the last time I was there (early July) when I got back home (700 miles away) it turned out that a couple of my items had been tampered with in the store or before - the inner seal had been deliberately pierced - so I had to throw them out. Not a big deal price wise, but I will check if I get a chance to go again.

2010-07-20 23:02:27

BE WARNED! The employees are rude and very impatient with customers. Most of them will make you feel that you're wasting their time with your questions. Best to do things by yourself. Their employees are just there to put products on the shelves. Excellent selection but very poor customer service.

2010-07-16 08:02:13

I wish the staff would acknoledge canadian shoppers who dont speak chinese. I find a lot of staff rude and one cashier nearly sent my daughter flying and never apologized. Lots of men stocking shelves ignored me or told me no english. If you want the population to shop in your store put english speaking staff and nice and knoledgeable. You ought to be ashamed of yourself to open a market with no english speaking staff in a english community.I have to say that your prices are very good.

2010-07-07 10:52:15

If you want customer service go to a high end grocery store like Whole foods or Pusateris. Pay triple what it costs here and waste your time chatting with the well paid staff. This is a grocery store people! Grab your food and go. With super cheap groceries you can't expect it all, if they paid formally trained english speaking hospitality grads you would'nt be getting your produce for .99 a pound. Go to a day spa if you need to feel warm and squishy inside.

2010-07-05 22:58:36

It is clean, no fish foul smell and above all - cheap

2010-07-04 19:51:14

nobody speaks english

2010-07-03 13:42:14

I shop there 1 or 2 times per week. It would be nice if when we say hello or hi to the cashier they at least response or smile gracefully. If their english is not very good, I understand . We all had to learn sometime. It would be a way to learn and at least the customers would feel a bit welcome, not like we are there just to spend money and get out of the way.

2010-07-02 01:02:34

The Grocery staff should have and know how to communicate in ENGLISH.. hence, it is very hard to talk with the ocean staff... thanks

2010-06-26 22:59:30

Staff calibre is very poor, even on 5 items they will punch wrong code or price.
staff fail to appreciate the customer service, reject coupon at random, and the logic they give is beyond understanding.

2010-06-25 13:19:33

Check out the newer/clean and friendly staff at Seasons Foodmart.... prices way better than Oceans and they speak English and are very very nice.
Oceans staff very very very very rude, we all need to boycott their stores...if you support their stopre then you support/accept their attitude------as a matter of fact I stopped shopping at Oceans. Go to Sobeys or Fortinos, you pay a little bit more but trust me it's worth every penny.I hope their meat is inspected by the Canadian Government.........

2010-06-23 18:08:05

I WAS STANDING BY THE MEAT COUNTER WATCHING A STAFF TOSSING THE FROZEN GOAT LEG ON THE FLOOR TO TAKE IT APART. I called on his attention that he should not be tossing the meat on the floor and then selling it to customers, even worst I went to customer service and they looked at me as to if you don't like what you see here...get out!!!! TOO BAD MY CELL PHONE WITH THE CAMERA WAS IN THE CAR. Perhaps we need the ministry of health to pay a visit as there is no way in these conditions they should be allowed to service the public!!!!

IGNORANT AND RUDE STAFF.

2010-06-10 16:30:59

it is good and busy but price of same itaems are to expensife

2010-06-03 19:13:02

Ridgewood 2010-05-11 113200 2stars

Cheap in Prices
Cheap in Smile
Cheap in English
Cheap in Customer Service

2010-05-23 08:01:39

I love the fact that oceans has very good quality of prepared food (mostly Chinese food), they are well cooked, good taste, more varieties (fish, chisken, beef, pork, shrimp, tofu, squid etc and price is inexpensive. The combo is $5.99 which has choices of rice/noodle+vegetable+meat +soup , I feel it is better than get Mc Donald combe because this is more healthy food.

I agree that the staffs know very little English and a little rude comparing with western supermarket. When I talk to them in Chinese they respond nicely and become amiable. I neutrally think about this ignorance and rudeness concern, I remember when they just newly open in 2007 (West drive) and 2008 (Shopper's world) the staffs were so nice and smiled a lot (may be they know they can't speak English much so choosing to smile is good choice-) but after time pass they become so ignorant and even rude sometimes. Is is possible that they are so sick with the cheap people and demanding customers? (south asian mostly, I am sorry I don't mean to be offensive) However I think it is the job of the store's staffs to have at least customer service mind no matter what types of customers are.

I think that T&T has better service comparing with Oceans. However the price at TNT isn't as low as Oceans. I love to go TNT to shop my grocery stuffs as I prefer nice service but I go Oceans for finished food.

Above all, you have to choose what you want, Cheap or Nice service because you get what you pay for.

2010-05-21 10:58:18

poor customer service

2010-05-21 00:59:16

cheapest prices, but rather sup at TNT

2010-05-11 11:32:00

Cheap in Prices
Cheap in Smile
Cheap in English
Cheap in Customer Service

Welcome to Ocean where Vegetable Items sold, wouldn't last more then two days in your fridge.

Soap bars and other washing stuff is low quality imports

You get What you PAY for.. so don't complain about Ocean, yes they are all non-smily rude chineses but you are going for cheap stuff so remeber You get What you PAY for..

2010-05-10 21:04:56

Need to learn to speak English.

2010-05-10 11:16:54

Very reasonable prices and clean for the standard asian fresh markets? Amazing prices on vegetable plants!

2010-05-03 21:41:14

Great store. The quality of the produce is wonderful, and the prices are great on everything in the store. The garden center has the best selection and prices I've ever seen. I culinary delight.

2010-04-30 15:40:40

I've been to these types of supermarkets all my life, being Asian and all, and I got to say, Oceans isn't that bad. The workers never know what you're talking about unless you know the owners/supervisors. It's normal for me to just walk around until I find it. It's a lot more cleaner and bigger then the ones I've been to in the past, and the place with the ready-made food has a lot more variety then the others. They even have dim sum, which can get really expensive! 3

Overall, it's not the bad, but it's not that great either. I didn't find the service bad or anything, it was typical of an Asian supermarket. At least these people smile and there's enough room to just ignore them like they do to you.

2010-04-27 16:26:42

a agree to most of the comments from all below and above, workers need to be able to communicate with customer in english at least, but most of them don't nor french or cantonese, and they never able to give the right direction to the right products to all customers, they need to improve their manners as well as language, especially at customer service desk, people are complaining about them being ignorant, it maybe because their faillure of understand the customers, so i think that they should hire some of the workers that able to understand english at least, because there are all type of different nationality that go to ocean groceries, the people that speak Cantonese,English, French, laostian, thailand, and vietnamese

2010-04-24 12:24:57

i like the ocean fresh markett the food is very inexpensive unlike here in TNT Supermarket calgary.

2010-04-22 13:27:20

Hey Tree, speaking about spelling, you misspelled alot, the correct way is a lot )

2010-04-22 13:27:20

I recently discovered this store (the West Drive location) while I was visiting from out of town and I was VERY impressed with this store. I loved the freshness and variety of the produce and their bakery department was my favorite, they had some of the best croissants I've ever had that were fresh out of the oven and only 3 for $0.99...WOW! Then I was in the meat department and again, very fresh and good quality at a good price. Not to mention the ready to eat foods...what a selection. And the prices overall were very competitive if not cheaper than Food Basics and Price Chopper (on the fresh foods, I can't speak for the non-perishable groceries because I didn't compare on those products). So overall, I was very impressed with this Grocer and I would welcome one of these stores to open in Kitchener (my city of residence). I'm really quite surprised at the bad reviews because other than some of the employees not having the best English, I thought it was a hit! And for those people that are stuck on the language barrier issue...are you there to shop or are you there to make friends? Give them some time...I'm sure they will make improvements with the language barriers. But overall, you can't argue with good quality and good price.

2010-04-18 08:43:33

Well, I have just read alot of comments about the workers not speaking ENGLISH. I only have one thing to say. Stop calling the kettle black. I didn't see one review without a spelling, or grammar mistake in it. Read what you write, you never know who's watching. No wonder our youth today can't read or write.

2010-04-14 13:39:17

mostly full .only 1 problem there and that is store attending chinese guys cant understand English and hence cannot direct you for your inquiries.

2010-03-30 05:39:49

THE PRICES ARE VERY GOOD AND THE VEGETABLES AND FRUITS ARE VERY FRESH. I USUALLY SHOP AT THE SHOPPER'S WORLD LOCATION. I OFTEN GO TO THE FISH COUNTER TO SEE ONE OF THE WORKER THAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE JACKIE CHAN. HE IS A VERY PLEASANT GUY.MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT'S HARD TO FIND SOMEONE ON THE FLOOR WHO UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH TO HELP YOU FIND AN ITEM.

2010-03-28 16:46:15

PRICES ARE GOOD BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM HIREING OTHER NATIONALITIES SINCE 95% OF THE CUSTOMERS ARE VISIBLE MINORITY. I WONDERED WHY THEY ONLY HIRE CHINESE PEOPLE AND MOST OF THEM DON'T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH NOR FRENCH.

2010-03-21 05:08:16

RUDE RUDE RUDE staff!!!!
I live in the area of 10 & Eglington, and I am so disappointed that they are moving into the old Food Basics. Now to get decent service and fresh food, I have to travel elsewhere to buy groceries. I truly hope they dont last long and a superstore moves in. They are polite and appreciate their costomers, and keep a clean store. Property value just went down. Hazel how could you let this happen???
This area deserves better....we already have TnT which is not too bad.

2010-03-12 09:19:43

THEY SELL DECAYED FISH EVERYTIME

2010-03-08 12:17:53

Is is abouttime we get a real Westendian sore up there to give the Chines some competion because all they care about is our money

2010-03-08 12:17:52

VERY WORRIED!!!..RUMOUR HAS IT ..OCEANS COMING TO HWY 10 & EGLINTON??
CANADIANS DO NOT EAT SUSPECT FOODS NOR DO WE SUPPORT BAD SERVICE!!

2010-02-28 17:47:49

Watch the pricing at the store especially at the cash and in the vegetable and fruit sections. The store will advertise one thing and will put it in at regular price at the cash. When you show them the flyer, they will say

2010-02-28 17:47:49

The two stores in Brampton, West Drive and Shoppers World are poor when it comes to honoring their advertised price. You have to watch them at the cash because it will go in more than the posted price. It has happened far too many times with different individuals and both locations. They will not honor the Consumers Act when comes to more than one price posted for one item. It is frustrating and confusing to have more than one posted price for one item. There customer service is bad as well as some of their pricing practices. If you shop at the two stores in Brampton watch them at the cash and double check your bill. Yes some of their English skills will suddenly disappear also??????

2010-02-26 06:26:47

employees doesnot speak or understand english at all

2010-02-26 06:26:47

Very, Very, Very Rude....Savings or Not! No one deserves to be treated that way. They should be boycotted.

2010-02-22 08:27:18

Savings at the cost of self respect.

Very - Very Rude staff. Tried three times and found consistent rudeness.

2010-02-16 06:07:23

The worst is the customer service. Most of the cashiers are very rude and not helpful. Also, I find a lot of the Chinese or Oriental men that works on the floor, whether it's in produce or the seafood section are very rude. If you ask them a question they are so ignorant that they would bark at you, ignores or pretend as if they don't speak English.

My point is, why is it the owners or manager don't train these people or talk to them about how to be polite to customers? So many people complained to the female manager at the one in Shopper's World but it doesn't changed, that means she is not doing anything about it. Just remember, customers comes first. You are going to lose your business if this type of behavour continues to happen.

2010-02-15 12:34:23

It is a good store with a variety of international items which is great

2010-02-15 12:34:23

its a great grocery store with an excellent selection on their produce.....the only bad thing about this store is the plaza that it is located in...its pure mayhem getting in and out of that place

2010-02-15 12:15:37

great store.
Now if only they could speak english.
has its perks though. a man working there yelled at me because i jumped over a spill that someone else had made. I guess he thought i had either made the spill myself, or he was angry at me because I was posing some sort of a saftey risk by jumping over it.
too bad he didnt yell at me in english. ^_^

2010-02-10 07:23:14

Everyone says if you want customer service go to Loblaws or Superstore or Fortino's ...have you been there they are just as rude, no hello, thank you, please, nothing. Customer service has been lacking for a long time now in ALL stores. THINK ABOUT IT

2010-02-07 07:15:56

Great place to shop, worth the drive from Orangeville. The produce stays fresh for longer, it is cheaper and much more choice!

2010-02-05 10:06:12

I went to Oceans fresh food market about a month ago. I loved it! All of the hot food was so well priced. The guy working the the sushi bar was very helpful.

2010-02-01 10:36:59

For vegetables that you're going to be using in about 3 days, this store is great. Don't think of keeping vegetables any longer than that because then they get rotten. The place could use a little cleaning but guess what everyone who's written on here has gone there and probably still goes there. So get over it and stop complaining.

2010-01-29 10:09:22

While the fruits and vegetables are fresh and reasonable, the employees at the store are of absolutely no use in assisting the customers. You ask for an item and they just ignore you. Not because it is a Chinese store that is why all the employees must be Chinese. Other nationalities could be employed also. I think a law should be in place where a percentage of the employees should be of a different nationality and this will also help customers with the language barrier.

2010-01-29 10:09:22

I have shopped at Oceans a dozen times over the years and what I came to understand and most people should too, is that the Asian people have special powers people! You have to approach them with positive thoughts and with ginger in your hands....ppfftt!! come on everyone. It's not bad at all. They have everyhting you need plus the regular western grocery items. Everytime I am in there, I need something unusual. I have never had poor service so far. I just approach them with a smile and ask polietly. Hmm..maybe it is becasue I have postive thoughts in my head already.

2010-01-20 09:45:18

Seriously... Stop complianing and just buy what you need and move on. You don't go there to socialize but to buy the most affordable and good quality item(s) for your dollar. Becuase not every Tom, Dick and Harry can afford Fortinos, Loblaws, Walmart - Fresh Market and any other Major Superstore.

2010-01-19 08:15:00

Ok now I went to Oceans for the first time on Saturday and I was aware that most of the staff do not speak English. With that in mind, I managed to motion and show what I needed when I needed something (gestures).

Whoever wrote below (or above wherever this comment will end up) that when you go to an asian market you should learn Cantonese or Mandarin - seriously? For them to open an Asian market in Ontario and to not learn SOME English to service the customers would be the equivalent of me opening a store in China and ensure that everyone in the store speaks ENGLISH only. Does that make any sense to you?? Yes Ontario is culturally diverse, but it does not take away from the fact that if I went travelling abroad, I'd have to learn the languanges of those countries I visit and play by their rules - so why don't those that work at Oceans have to learn OUR language and play by our rules?

Just an observation - when in Rome do as the Romans.

2010-01-15 13:17:49

I love oceans and am appalled at the reviews below. Fresh off the boat? Immigrant workers? Unless you are Native American you are or are decendants of Immigrants. Yes we are in a country whose first language is English, however, you are going to an ASIAN food store in the most multicultural diverse city in Ontario. Did it ever cross your mind to learn Cantonese, Mandarin etc, before you go? No cause that would be absurd. Stop trying to tarnish a company that brings a very welcome variety to the table.

2010-01-15 13:17:49

The hot food counter is great and the store is good for those hard to find items. The only thing that bothers me is the sadness of the cashiers. They never smile )

2010-01-13 08:02:19

Very rude customer services. Either they don't know or don't want to speak English. Cashier are the worst. They don't listen and convey the message of take it or leave it. smile and politeness is not company policy.

2010-01-11 12:35:36

Best vegetables in bramton

2010-01-10 04:07:12

I like oceans the food is fresh. You go there to buy food not to speak to speak to people. You know where to go to speak to people if want to. Have you ever travled to places where they dont speak English at all?. Just enjoy what you go to do there, YES English is the laungage that connects all of us but some countries people speak their own laungage priod..Some people need to travel around to experience and stop judging others...Am happy when I go to Oceans get my food pay for it go home and enjoy it.

2010-01-01 13:38:11

THE STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE THE STORE IS DIRTY, DON'T YOU GUYS GET IT, YOU WOULD THINK THAT MANAGEMENT WOULD IMPROVE THE SERVICE, OR CAN'T YOU GUYS READ THE REVIEWS, IF I OWNED THIS PLACE I WOULD GIVE IT A GOOD SHAKE UP, IF THEY HAD A REVIEW FOR POOR MINUS I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN IT

2009-12-29 07:35:35

no one can speak english. Very rude people

2009-12-29 07:35:35

There are some excellent Chinese Restaurants where staff speak no English but we all go there to enjoy the food, same thing, shop for food at Oceans and pretend you are in a Chinese Restaurant. If you complain - try loblaws across the street and pay for the extra service......... I personally will not shop at Oceans given all the fruits and veggies are of a low grade and must be used up within a few days, but please - let's not complain about the English!!!

2009-12-26 10:39:47

service is really scarce. prices are gettting higher. i had an unpleasant experience. i got there at approx 8 pm. and the hot table counter was clearing their left over foods for approx $1.00 less than normal price. there were about 25 entrees left. We requested the girl to make it 2 for 1 instead of $4.99. the girl downright refused and i found that really cheap considering that they get so much business that reducing only 20 pkgs for $50 less in total than normal is a tiny payback for the benefits that they get from their customers everyday. SO I WAS PREETY TURNED OFF.

2009-12-24 08:01:49

parking and the flow of trafic is a nightmare

2009-12-22 00:37:07

The people don't speak English, the low prices make me sense something bad and they REALLY need to work on being nice.

2009-12-22 00:37:07

I think it's a great store if you go into it with certain expectations -- firstly, you're on your own for finding things. Secondly, you need a loony. Thirdly, it's an amazing store for trying new things or hunting down food that's just plain difficult to locate in a Loblaw's.

I've tried some fantastic (dumplings and instant soups!), mediocre (some of the fresh food) and terrible (mostly dessert-related) things from the store but the experience of going there is why I keep going back.

Minus the customer service.

2009-12-20 13:36:09

Oceans is a great place to shop for different cultures and varieties of great food with also of course the urban regular foods that we eat, The only problem that I have with oceans is the dollar thing for a cart.

2009-12-03 21:49:20

Some food items are cheap but the place stinks to high heaven. Customer service zero. Be careful with best before date.

2009-12-01 22:01:52

Price wise this a good store. Make sure you have lots of time on your hand as the STAFF does not speak English other than yes no or Shorreeee (sorry).I find it hard to belive that they follow food safety at all.And over all you won't white or black or other nationality on staff? Hiding something from the consumer or Government?. Selling drugs without proper licence? More over an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects Ontario's population. There is no such thing in that, STILL WANNA SHOP THERE? GOOD LUCK--Shame on your management.

2009-12-01 22:01:50

They recently expanded the store and did some remodeling. It looks fantastic and modern. Clean. The staff is still fresh off the boat. But, the layout makes it easy enough to find stuff.

Since I heard it was bought over by Loblaw Company, I thought it would be safe enough to try some sushi from the ready made counter. I was really careful about the best before date. The price had an orange sticker on it that discounted the price printed on the white label. The sushi was great but, the seafood salad was totally off despite the best before being a couple of days ahead.

Still, trusting in the store, I thought it was just the smell of seaweed salad or the spices they used. Now, it's eight hours later and all I want to do is figure out how to throw up so that I can stop feeling like I have to throw up.

2009-11-27 10:07:44

very poor service, staff are extremely ignorant, dont know if they understand english or pretending not to understand. staff totally unfriendly.
i dont understand being such a huge supermarket, why dont they accept M/C or Visa.
went for the first time, i dont think i wld want to go again.
good price, specially their deli counter and tropical fruits

2009-11-17 14:18:48

This place is good, prices are decent not the best compared to other asian supermarkets in the markham and scarborough areas.

ALSO AS A RULE OF THUMB DON'T EXPECT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ANY ASIAN GROCERY STORE PEROID.

2009-11-14 16:23:31

Oceans has good prices, but be careful..produce must be used right away to avoid spoilage. Also make SURE to look at the cashiers as they rip you off big time especially with items to be weighed

2009-11-08 08:36:52

Hi
Oceans, is a farily decent store when it comes to grocries, but other then that it is TERRIBLE !
The customer service is really reallly bad !
Btw, can anyone tell me the hours of operaion for the one on WEST Dr. ?
(410 & Queens)
Thanks

2009-11-07 06:19:33

I've visited Oceans several times. The products you buy have to be used right away.I haven't met one customer service, cashier or otherwise willing and able
to assist you in any way. The Staff needs to take ESL and learn some Customer
Service skills.

2009-11-07 06:19:31

I agree too that their customer service needs to improve a lot. What keeps me going back is the few items that are very difficult to find elsewhere at competitive prices.

The cashier's are a little more polite than the floor staff (re-stockers) etc, but not by much.

2009-10-31 14:30:12

Our friends took us to this store, right a way we noticed the staff were cold towards your presence being at the store. As time went along I asked one of the staff (woman) if she could direct me to the location of the items I was looking for,Well there you have it she looked at me turned around and walked away. You know this store has the nerve to employ these kinds of critters to serve the public.why dont we all boycott this store and go to others good stores. You might pay a little, but at the end of your trip you get the satisfaction and good quality with a nice thank you and a smile.

2009-10-25 07:11:36

The food choices are very good and prices are reasonable. Staff definitely needs to improve their customer skills as they are extremely rude and ignorant. The layout is very good and I like the new restaurant section added to the storeGood Job!

2009-10-25 02:26:14

Last night I had a bad experience at the store. I took my shopping cart from the car park and entered the store. It was already after 8pm and it was raining.
I went to the fresh fish department as I wanted to buy something before they put the goods back into the freezers.
I left my shopping cart by the entrance and spent no longer than 2 minutes in there. When I returned my shopping cart was gone, possibly stolen by another customer. I was so angry because I had no more loonies and it was raining outside. I went to the customer's counter to complain.
The manager was kind enough to provide me with a loonie to get another cart.
I thank him very much and assure him that this act of consideration will keep me coming back.

2009-10-25 02:26:11

Ever since i migrated in this country, one thing i notice is i pay for everything. Whenever i use my phone, i pay for it (Incoming or Outgoing). I even have to pay if i want a 911 call feature on my phone. So if you A+ cashiers and customer service, go pay for it! Go to loblaws, Sobey's and the likes...

2009-10-22 00:10:16

I, personally do not shop at Oceans any more because the cashiers are very rude. I would rather spend my money for quality than to settle for cheap rates with such rude cashiers. They need to try and smile a little bit more. That is the reason why I stop shopping at Oceans and why customers will stop shopping there.

2009-10-18 01:11:51

I agree 150% on the customer service! I truly understand everyone has their days, but I go almost twice a week, the rude expressions on their faces are extremely uninviting, I go mainly for the prices and quality, I just ignore the staff, everytime you ask a question, he/she shakes his/her head and look away, downright rude! Is this behaviour really necessary!

2009-10-16 04:39:20

very poor. they are not kind and don't understand if ask anything

2009-10-16 04:39:20

I like the variety of foods available in Oceans (Shoppers World), but I find it very frustrating to ask one of the store clerks a question. Most do not understand the simplest of questions even regarding items in their own department. Similarly, the cashiers do not even greet you nor do they share any kind of even minimal conversation with the customers. It makes shopping at Oceans very impersonal. I feel the staff should be more 'customer friendly'.

2009-10-11 07:50:38

I have nothing against the chineses staff, the issue is with their faces, they are NON smiley faces and no friendly attitudes.
the food is good though.

Luckily we have other places to shop from!

2009-10-09 17:55:18

If you think service is terrible for English speaking customers, try asking them in Cantonese or Mandarin. Service gets worse.

2009-10-06 09:44:22

customer service is horrible. staff does not speak english. they are racist -
they only hire chinese workers. If you ask a question workers can't help you and
they turn their back on you or just don't come back to you with an answer

2009-09-25 19:38:43

Where's the Quinoa's? Or Keen-Wu

2009-09-25 19:38:43

Almost no one speaks English. The entire staff is Chinese, most can't speak a word of English- probably smuggled into the country and working for peanuts. The Shopper's World location should be checked out- something is wrong when, in a multiracial city, an entire supermarket staff (probably over 100) are all Chinese and most can't speak a word of English.
Not to mention the service is incredibly rude. Say 'Hi, How are you' to the cashier and she ignores you and bags your soap bars along with your meat in the same bag, then puts the one remaining small item into a bag of it's own- as is to say 'screw you for shopping at Ocean's'. It's a sweatshop of sorts, I think, and immigration and the labour board ought to look into the place.

2009-09-19 09:14:06

As for first hand experience, working in Oceans as a non-asian, I can tell you that even though employese my not be easy to communicate with at times, some do try. Some learn english over the years and others commit their selves harder. Alot of people target the customer service, but take a look at the majority of the customers.... they are not so enjoyable ( i would know, and have taken alot in as i have worked there). Yes, all employees and I at Oceans are there to serve, but by now you should expect not to have the best customer service. All-in-all Oceans is a different shopping experience, so do not expect a Sobeys, or Loblaws. Take it as it is, because if you don't say somthing firsthand they will not change, because they are suceeding fine with the large array of customers.

2009-09-13 19:52:56

food is food

2009-09-09 09:42:20

I have found the fruits and vegetables to be of good quality and I like having a store like Oceans in Brampton. Having some of the fruits and veggies wrapped in plastic and styrofoam may not be such a bad idea, less hands pawing through the produce. I have seen customers being rude and displaying extreme bad manners to the staff on more than one occasion.

2009-09-04 11:57:56

know why their business is booming? Fourth grade fruits and veggies, ever wonder why produce is in styrofoam trays wrapped with plastic? You get what you pay for. Does anyone ever complain when they are in a restaurant where no-one speaks English? No - they just enjoy the food!!!

2009-09-04 11:57:55

You get what you pay for - the produce in all Asian supermarkets are of the lowest quality, they don't last for more than a few days, why do you think they are in styrofoam with plastic over? Do you find other supermarkets that do this? Do you ever wonder why? If you want quality and hygiene try Metro or Loblaws - they speak English. As for booming business - the workers have to pay off their passage to Canada so for three years they get no pay from the Asian Supermarkets - reason for low markup on groceries. Other supermarkets have to pay employees. I wonder when the Canadian Government will notice this?

2009-09-01 18:53:45

Too many people complain about being given bad customer service, staff not fluent in english and the hygiene of the store itself. But honestly, you get what you pay for. Everyone has their bad days at work and I know they must deal with hundreds of irritating customers. It is an asian-based supermarket, so obviously for the management having workers that speak the same language keeps their business going by giving them their tasks. And sadly, they might be even getting paid underwage so can you really blame them for being the way they are? Hygiene, only so much can be done. I do think they should hire more workers to improve that. At the end of the of all your complaints, they still are booming in business. Why? Because no matter the horrible conditions, people still put up with it because that is where the deals are. And we all know we are all facing a recession now. And if you guys think Ocean's is

2009-08-30 19:51:00

Fresh vegetables and fruit -- reasonable prices. They need to get an english speaking person in the fish dept.

2009-08-30 19:51:00

Since they expanded the store, it is better organized and uncluttered. Best prices around, fresh produce, plenty of diversity. I was a regular customer, but I recently moved away. We certainly need more stores like this one!
The people from the meat ept. spoke loose English, but were kind and helpful. I don'nt need more. It is appaling that some customers expect low-wage recent immigrants to shoot Victorian phrases at them. Also, I've been in other, non-immigrant supermarkets and the service wasn't much better, the employee only guessed where the merchandise is.
Janko

2009-08-20 10:37:02

THE STORE HAS LOTS OF VARIETY OF FRESH PRODUCE AT REALLY GOOD PRICES.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE ENGLISH SPEAKING STAFF THAT ARE ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS WHEN ASKED. THE CASHIERS SHOULD SMILE MORE AS IF THEY ARE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU BECAUSE THE CUSTOMERS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ITEMS IN THE STORE.

SHERRY FROM BRAMPTON

2009-08-18 07:31:06

There's a DIRE NEED of some executive at the top to hear the COMMON RANT of all the customers and work on an improved customer's service. We all came here from distant lands to make a difference to our lives and to the lives of others. If sth you can give free in life- then those are the SMALL CURTESIES, which in turn elevates the humanity in MAN/WOMANKIND.
Let us make CANADA proud of EACH ONE OF US!!
The store has so much POTENTIAL BUT on the contrary it doesn't take long to go ON A NOSE DIVE !!

2009-08-18 07:31:05

Post flyers online weekly plus improve your customer personnel language and ask to be friendly. Try to reduce your profit margin. H. Khan

2009-08-18 07:31:05

No one speaks english? Really? I never spoke to anyone because I left immediately because it smelled bad and was too busy with people who don't take personal hygiene seriously. I can see speaking english would be at a disadvantage for the employer as the employees could probably speak out about unfair practices and or wages. How many of them are there illegally? Not saying they are, but it does make me wonder. There are too many dishonest companies out there.

2009-08-16 11:44:43

I like your new set up. I hope you may also arrange all items of similar nature at same place and place elevated labels as required

2009-08-14 08:04:00

English language required, no customer service if no english.

2009-08-13 08:50:53

store hours should be posted. so your customer will know buniess hours. The store is ok, but if you need help with anything its very diffcult because most of the workers does not speak english.

2009-08-05 21:13:58

i love oceans fresh market. great selection of asian/indian/carribean staples, sauces and other goodies at good prices. there is a selection of standard north american fare as well. there are always great deals on fruits and vegetables. i can't comment on the fish poultry and meat as i am a vegetarian, but their veggie sushi has always been fresh and tasty, at very reasonable prices. customer service is about the same as any asian store, there are language barriers and the staff are more of the

2009-08-01 17:35:32

Large variety of products. Clean and well organized. But poor customer service.
Another drawback parking spaces always full.

2009-08-01 17:35:31

is there also a oceans fresh market on Queen street / 410 in Brampton?
does anyone have the phone number for that one?

2009-08-01 17:35:30

Ocean's has great fresh food and meats. I have been shopping there for a while now, and I haven't had a problem yet. The fact that they are a little cheaper than other stores is an added plus.

2009-07-28 02:38:22

if u go to walmart u always get a hi

2009-07-26 09:44:55

I have a friend who exclusively buys meat from Ocean's I was invited over for a BBQ and after eating the meal a few hours later I felt pretty bad. The next 3 days I was vomitting and had terrible diarrhea. Turns out I had a parasite when I went to the doctor which I was told is usually from consuming tainted foods or unsanitary handling. My friend is a clean person who actually has hand sanitizer beside his bbq. The pain I was in for those few days was definitely not worth paying less. Talked to someone at work and they said the same thing happened to them when they bought beef from Ocean's terribly sick for days.

2009-07-24 11:45:57

Having read all the comments about the store, i am wondering....if there is any law that can force the Ocean's to provide service? After all this is Canada..and they should comply the laws and rules set by Canadians. FR

2009-07-24 11:45:57

I totally agree with the rest of the review, the staff is VERY VERY RUDE!!! They have to realise its their customers that make their business.....
HI and THANK YOU are normal every day courties, obviouly this store doe snot know what it means........

2009-07-23 14:51:31

This store sells spoiled fish/food. I will never shop at this store ever again.
Very Very Poor Customer Service. The check-out staff are rude and unrespectful towards customers. I viewed this store as shop what you see and ask no quesions. The staff ignore questions and make fun of customers in their languages. The best worker in this store are the people at the deli counter and a older gentle man at the meat counter.

2009-07-17 11:47:14

You get what you pay for...cant expect anything more.
None can speak english...they are rude...no customer service what so ever..they wont follow any rules that other grocery store follows, they wont accept any coupons, they wont accept credit cards...they will never say thank you or hi or smile...i can continue with my list on and on....BUT...

you do get stuff for cheap...lots of variety, good selection...and the Shoppers World location is extremely clean...no stink watsoever...

I would go there again...dont care much about talking to anyone there as i know what i am buying...

2009-07-17 11:47:14

very good store in grocery

2009-07-02 12:34:10

Having spent most of my life working in customer service i feel you recieve what you initially give out, and to be honest there are times i would love to tell customers where to go. Personaly I have never had a problem with customer service, whenever i have asked for assistance i have always recieved a prompt response. I have also been in grocery stores that smelt and looked far worse. As soon as there is fresh raw meat and fish there is going to be an unusually strong smell. But other than that i have had no problems with any of the food or staff at oceans

2009-06-26 12:05:10

I like the prices and the food there but everyone is right about there customer service thing. A man that works that Ocean's place thing ran over my foot with his cart and he knew he ran over my foot and he didn't even, ever said sorry of anything! My foot is still sore! It's okay that they can't speak english, its a Chinese grocery store anyway but they should at less learn manners and how to say hi.

2009-06-25 05:46:38

VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE, THE cashiers treat people like thieves.

2009-06-25 05:46:36

you cheap asses get what you pay for. You want low prices you get poor quality service with it. You want service with a smile (which is rare these days) go some place else (smiles aren't free these days)

2009-06-21 12:07:59

Bad Customer Service !

2009-06-21 12:07:59

I am exteemly disappointed to see this locations state and reviews...it is very dirty, smells bad, there is a lack of training, staff can not assist customers as they have not clue as to where to find product, they cannot speak English, are rude and ignorant. I have lived in Brampton all my life and have never encountered such poor service. Perhaps we need the ministry of health to pay a visit as there is no way in these conditions they would pass any regulations...

I agree 100%. It is very bad customer service. The customer services are very very bad. All the staffs are should be working at the Funeral home because they don't know how to smile or talk friendly.

2009-06-05 21:56:09

Bad customer service.Everywhere in canada we can use credit card but this stores why not using credit card ?This is really unfair government should control for this thing they must allowed to use credit card visa ,mastercard as well.MUst provide to training for customer services staff for how to treat to customer like smile, talk friendly as welll not really, not speaking they dont care......................

2009-06-05 21:56:09

The number issue with the 2 locations in Brampton, are definitly customer service
related. No one speaks English,

2009-05-23 14:56:38

A lot of choice but VERY POOR customer service. Never a Hi and Thank you from the cashier.

2009-05-20 15:27:38

this is for XIAO XUAN the cashier that served me last nite. she put the raw meat together with my fresh fruit in one plastic bag! She should had been given training to put separately between raw meat and fruit or bread or vegetables! or she just ignored the rule? be careful, sometimes they put original prices instead of sale prices!

2009-05-16 20:46:24

2009-05-12 07:52:31

2009-05-04 22:10:35

GOOD FOOD CHOICES,FRESH PRODUCE.EXTREMLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE NONE OF THE AGENTS SPEAK ENGLISH,VERY UNFRIENDLY

2009-05-04 22:10:33

I find oceans excellent. There is a vast amount of selection. I wish they would open one up in Hamilton so i don't have to drive long distance once a week. Plus it would be ideal to open one up in Hamilton cause there is a very big asian community that consits of chinese, vietamese, korean, indian, and so on. The only think lacking in Oceans i've noticed is that the customer service is very very poor.

2009-04-16 22:49:00

I love Oceans! The food is always fresh and the prices are good! It is nice to have a grocery store that is not taking advantage of people during this recession because you get your money's worth!

Excellent Job! Keep it up!

Thanks for Oceans. It's surprise that there are so wonderful chinese supermarket in Brampton. I like the store's style, make me feel like stay in the park. The products are perfect, expecilly vegetables and fruits. And also, the price is not expensive. The workers are friendly, some of them don't speak English very well, but they try their best to serve me well.I like them, they are hard worker. Ocean, I will stick with you........

2009-04-09 11:38:32

Very friendly and prices are great. lots of product always in stalk.

2009-04-05 01:54:51

Their selection of fresh vegetables are good however their customer service needs upgrading. Floor staff neads to be able to communicate in English also it will be nice to see employees of other ethnic group.

2009-03-20 07:27:36

not as good as shopper's world.

Here's where to find the flyer online...http//www.groceryshops.com/stores/oceans/oceans.html

2009-03-14 17:46:50

goood and excellent

2009-03-12 10:07:49

this place had such potential when it first opened...it was clean and didn't smell like every other asian market. it's a terrible place and the staff is incredibly unfriendly, even to other asian people. i've never had such terrible customer service in any other asian market. they talk about customers right in front of them...the produce is okay. there's not much selection and the prepared foods are much more expensive than fortinos. i'll stick with fortinos

2009-03-07 05:48:03

I think it is great to have the opportunity to be able to buy different foods from all walks of life. Too bad I have not been able to get ther flyer online on Flyerland.ca.

2009-02-08 16:15:40

If you didn't have to deal with the ignorant staff (espacially in the Seafood Department) it would be a Supermarket worh going to. I would rather pay more elsewhere and deal with people who actually know English and realize they are in CANADA.

2009-01-16 22:29:39

Nobody can speak English language. The staff is not friendly. It smells bad and I don't want to go there at all. It is a mess. Baljit

2009-01-08 11:17:10

Prices are excellent, doesn't smell bad like most Asian stores, food is fresh. The only negative I would say is that the staff at the mean counter do not speak English. It would help!

2009-01-02 10:49:02

Oceans has freshest fruit and vegetables

2009-01-02 10:49:02

I know after reading these reviews from other people that Ocean Fresh is good. However, there are number of things I have to mention

First of all, for most of the vegetables they pack together so that people can't pick they ones that are fresh, so shoppers have to get the bad as well. For example, the bitter melons (my favorite vegetable) there are always some bad ones in a pack.

Secondly, most of their refrigerated ready-to-serve food have NO EXPIRY DATE. Do you want to eat something that you don't know when it is prepared? I know a lot of them don't have preservative but as the minimum they should let consumer know when is safe and not safe to eat.

Thirdly, their seafood shop doesn't have enough lighting. In there, I can't tell which fish is more fresh than the others. Besides, service is very friendly, they are not eager to serve you. Personally, I don't like touching the fish even if I want to buy (except when in my own kitchen).

There are still many negative things for it to be at standard. After all, the average food price is still higher than others in Brampton for the same thing you buy. Since there's no other same size Asian Supermarket to compare in Brampton, I give it 2 stars because it's convenience for me. Being in Brampton is probably the reason why they are still in business, they don't exit in Scarborough, Toronto, North York, Mississauga or Markham.

2009-01-02 10:49:02

Food choices are excellent. You have to wing your way through the store as customer service is very poor - staff need lesson on customer service. The staff English is very limited and the fellows in the fish area are ignorant and not accommodating.

I am very pleased with the Ocean's Supermarket.I would like if the staff can be more efficient in every way ...some of them does not know any English and as such they cannot explain anything to the customer.

Please keep the standard up and make sure the place is clean always notr like AAA Supermarket in Brampton its nasty.....

Excellent in products but needs more organization and customer service. The store at Shoopers World is better than yours.

2008-12-01 19:03:01

I think ocian is good what when I go there smel like sh...... I cant tell you dont go there

2008-11-23 09:12:48

I am 100 0/0 canadian and I LOVE to shop at Oceans.I still go to the one on West Drive even though the one in Shoppers is closer to me.It is just TOO busy. The only complaint is the lack of customer service.I think as for any job that you go for in Canada you should know how to speak to your customers and be able to answer any questions that they may have. That is the only negative thing I have to say.Everything else is good !!!!! Thank You Brampton Ontario

2008-10-31 12:32:13

I think oceans is great feel like I am shopping in Kesington Market in Toronto. The only problem is that they have is very poor customer service. You can not get any help from anyone. No one seems to speak the English language. We do live in Canada.

2008-10-19 16:33:09

very very good with a vast variety of fresh fish and foods. tasty tasty tasty

2008-10-07 11:48:30

2008-09-05 11:43:58

I think its a great store. Very good selection.I like Shoppers the best because of the take out food especially the noodles...........

2008-08-20 22:58:14

PLEASE OPEN MORE OCEANS SUPERMARKET PLEASE PLEASE

2008-07-25 06:02:34

The food is great but the customer service needs improvement. Its getting better. The new one at Shopper's world, so far is better in customer service than the Queen's st location.

2008-06-20 07:15:46

This store is fantastic for deals. The vegetables are very fresh. They could improve on customer service. The staff are very rude. It's worth dealing with for the selection and specials though.

2008-04-09 06:32:48

The herb selection is fantastic and always fresh! The seafood is delicious! I made a seafood pasta with their clams, mussels, squid and shrimp and every bite was of high quality and very fresh! Their sales are great, I hate missing them.
